Acupressure treatments may help you sleep

In 2008 two studies were performed investigating acupressure and its use to help you sleep.
The first group of patients had sleeping disorders. Sixty percent of those were suffering cancer. They had the HT7 point stimulated every night for a fortnight. Sixty percent reported improvement in the quality of their sleep, nearly eighty percent of the cancer patients reported improvement.
The second study investigated if melatonin production was effected when the H7 piont was. Melatonin is a hormone which is used by your brain to control your sleep cycles. Some people supplement melatonin to get to sleep at night.
A group of people, with insomnia received pressure on their HT7 point for twenty days. The study found that the level of melatonin was higher in patients that received the treatment. It also found that they also said there was a reduction in anxiety and the sleep quality was improved. Read more about acupressure.

Acupressure for Morning Sickness

Morning sickness help with acupressure treatment.

In 2008, a study was reported in the Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice journel that investigated if acupressure could ease the nausea associated with pregnancy.
Women wore an acupressure wrist band for three days. Pressure was applied to the P6 point. Some women wore the same band on the same point without any pressure
The group wearing the wristband with pressure found an improvement in the control of the morning sickness and alleviation of the symptoms.

Dysmenorrhoea is severe and debilitating pain which comes during a women’s’ monthly cycle.
A study was conducted in Korea which was reported in the International Journal of Nursing Studies which set out to find if acupressure was an appropriate treatment for dysmenorrhoea.
The study found that there was a significant reduction of the pain and it lasted for up to 2 hours.
The conclusion was, (Acupressure) "can be an effective non-invasive nursing intervention for alleviation of primary dysmenorrhoea, with effects lasting 2h post treatment."
