Dysmenorrhoea is severe and debilitating pain which comes during a women’s’ monthly cycle.
A study was conducted in Korea which was reported in the International Journal of Nursing Studies which set out to find if acupressure was an appropriate treatment for dysmenorrhoea.
The study found that there was a significant reduction of the pain and it lasted for up to 2 hours.
The conclusion was, (Acupressure) "can be an effective non-invasive nursing intervention for alleviation of primary dysmenorrhoea, with effects lasting 2h post treatment."
